The customer
The challenge

CURREX brings deep understanding in biomechanics, gait analysis and foot typology. However, online retail conversions were low, largely because customers didn’t know their own foot type, a crucial factor in selecting the right insole. The goal was to merge domain knowledge with AI to digitalize foot classification, remove friction from the buying process, and drive sales. online sales.
Additionally, CURREX aimed to position itself as a digital innovator in the market. Merantix Momentum was selected as the AI partner to help scale and strategically evolve the business model through technology.

Solution

Merantix Momentum developed a computer vision pipeline to analyze images of customers' feet: segmenting the foot and classifying it into a foot type. This classification is then used to match the customer with the most suitable insole, taking into account their sport and use case. The solution was deployed as an interactive web application and embedded directly into the CURREX website.
Based on the success of the initial project, a second system was developed: a video-based gait analysis solution for extracting biomechanical keypoints, detecting stance phases, and calculating relevant gait parameters. Both systems are operated by Merantix Momentum, continuously improved, and optimized for scalability.
