Sourcing and prioritization of AI ideas
The problem
The project
As a global corporation, Siemens Mobility with its 35,000 employees has endless experts who are able to identify the ideal AI cases through a high level of process understanding. However, it places very high demands on the structures for sourcing, evaluating, prioritizing and implementing the ideas at this scale.
A challenge was therefore issued to all employees to submit AI use cases, and the best case was then implemented by an internal team. The first challenge was to refine the cases - from raw ideas to complete AI sketches - and prioritize them against each other.
For this purpose, a 5-month concept was developed with Merantix Momentum along the AI Canvas to develop and subsequently evaluate the ideas.
The solution
Our contribution
The process included four phases: Inspiration, refinement, evaluation and prototyping for the winners.
The whole process was accompanied for the teams or individuals - from whom the ideas came - by so-called mentors from the Siemens Mobility AI team. They were introduced to the process designed by Merantix and trained in 2x weekly train-the-trainer sessions on the respective phase in order to accompany their teams in the best possible way.
Out of 150 ideas, 3 winning ideas were selected over 4 stages. With these teams, Merantix, an AI team and a UX team, an MVP of their solution was developed in a 1-week sprint for final selection. The final winning idea - a generative project documentation - was then implemented by the Siemens Mobility AI Team.
