AI News: 3 recommendations for ChatGPT & Co.

Large language models, risks, and potential applications.
from
Alexander Fecke

The rapid developments in artificial intelligence, especially in large-scale language models, present companies with many opportunities, but also challenges. Here are three recommended actions that can help companies make the most of these technologies:

1. Assess the relevance and value of AI technologies to your business:

First, SMEs should try out the currently available AI technologies and language models, such as ChatGPT4, Claude, but also tools like midjourney or Stable Diffusion, evaluate them and find out which ones are best suited for your specific needs. It is important to weigh the costs and benefits of these technologies and assess to what extent they can contribute to a more efficient and effective way of working.

The good thing is that these tools can be used and tested by yourself without any hurdles or expert knowledge. Take an hour, perhaps in a group of interested people, and test e.g. ChatGPT4 for your own application possibilities.

2. Implement AI technologies carefully and minimize risks:

Implementing AI-powered products and workflows can be risky. One example is "prompt injection", where users directly or indirectly hide conflicting instructions in their input to generate unwanted output. To minimize such risks, when implementing AI applications, companies should carefully consider what input the language model receives, how the output is further processed, and what the potential damages are. In addition, companies should take the necessary security precautions to prevent misuse of AI systems and keep their implementation in line with ethical and legal standards.

3. Invest in training and knowledge transfer in the field of AI:

In order to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by AI technologies, it is crucial to invest in employee training and promote knowledge transfer in the field of AI. This can be achieved by attending events, workshops or conferences, such as at the Merantix AI Campus in Berlin. Additionally, companies can work with experts to guide projects from ideation and prototyping to implementation and product maturity.
