In many key industries in Germany, process planning for the manufacture of complex components is carried out with the help of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). CAM systems enable the creation of machining processes that could only be created manually with great effort or not at all. Increasing competition, the shortening of innovation cycles and greater product individualization in the course of Industry 4.0 are leading to increasing complexity of products and CAM systems.
This presents even experienced users with enormous challenges in handling such systems. For this reason, CAM2030 aims to enable users to carry out computer-aided process planning for highly complex components quickly, efficiently and reliably in the future by means of digital optimization tools. The result is a new generation of CAM systems with less planning effort and technology-optimized process planning.
Solution
Results & effects
Merantix Momentum develops methods that use machine learning to approximate the processes in complex CAD simulations and thus predict simulation results. This reduces simulation time and accelerates the optimization of components. We also apply interpretable methods to make the relationship between part parameters and part quality understandable for users.
